This Week in the Studio

I'm usually most comfortable with my smashed up tubes of acrylic paint but this week, after some urging from my five-year-old son, I made friends with a set of watercolors. Why haven't I been hanging with the watercolor crowd until now? They're such fun!

Window Dressing

My windows are so boring.  Since I live in Texas, I can rarely open them due to wind, rain, scorching heat or mosquitoes the size of small Volkswagons.  I have curtains in place, but I love the idea of adding beads, window sheers and wooden screens!

Who are you saving it for?

My acting teacher used to say this to me on occasion: Who are you saving it for?  What he meant was, when you're acting (or participating in any kind of creative act) there is no reason to hold back. Leave it all on the stage.  Leave it all on the canvas.  Spend everything you have and the result with be a pure and powerful creative expression.
