Purple Room by Billy Cotton
I recently found this eggplant colored living room while browsing the Domino archives. It is the family home of designer Billy Cotton. Built in the 1850's, this home sits at the edge of Lake Champlain in Vermont. Cotton's modern renovations suit this picturesque farm house, but this purple living room really pushes the envelope. It's made me re-think purple as a wall color!

Whimsical Paris Home
I am completely charmed by this Parisian home owned by designer Patrice Gruffaz. The purple, green and red color scheme is gorgeous and the carved wooden mushroom table and chairs are amazing. Playful whimsy mixed with old world architecture, stacks of books, interesting art and bird figures scattered about - what's not to love?

When Bohemians Do Pink
This morning I awoke to my five year old requesting Valentines, which were to be handed out today in class. Mommy fail! So, I worked some mama-craft magic and produced eleven handmade Valentines in about 10 minutes thanks to THIS post I found via Pinterest. Construction paper, scissors, hole punch, old balloons from last birthday party - BOOM. Handmade Valentines, ta da!
Today, I'm thinking pink.
I don't have a lot of pink in my house or in my wardrobe.
But if I did, it would go a little something like this:

Create Some Drama
I guess I've always been kind of a drama queen. My grandmother was calling me "Sarah Bernhardt" when I was old enough to cut my own potatoes. I don't throw epic fits anymore, but I'm still prone to exaggeration and wearing red. I usually, however, keep my drama confined to the decorating and design of my home. Here are some lovely dramatic spaces to get your creative juices flowing.

Browsing Cost Plus World Market
I had a few free moments yesterday, so I popped in to my local Cost Plus World Market for a look-see. I love this place. I always find something fun and interesting for my home or my kitchen cabinets. I can pick up a great bottle of wine, a set of fresh towels, some ethnic jewelry and a little goodie for my three year old. I haven't been in to the store in a while and I was so happy to see their most recent collections. These are some of the items I might come home with if I were on a little spree.
4. Concrete Hayden Dining Bench
1. Ivory Ceramic Knobs (Set of 4)
2. Arabesque Indoor-Outdoor Rug
3. Veda Wall Rack
4. Campaign Chair
Do you shop at Cost Plus?
What do you think of their new stuff?

Guest Posting at JPM Design
Today, I'm a guest at JMP Design with some high style, low cost design ideas. So head over to see what I've cooked up and don't forget to say hello!
In the meantime, I'll leave you with some eye candy: Tine K Home always has gorgeous photos of their product and I thought I'd post some of my favorites from their newest offering. These images have such a Rembrandt quality - making gorgeous use of light and dark.

Lavender
I brought home some gorgeous hydrangeas last week and they've have made me so happy. They also inspired this post. Purple can be so pretty. I don't have a lick of it in my house, except for the hydrangeas, but I'd think its time for a little "pop of purple" as Sue from The Zhush always says.
P.S. Thanks for all your sweet notes yesterday. I was a zombie! My husband came to my rescue (even though he is just as sleep deprived) and let me sleep last night from 10:30pm - 7:30am! I haven't had that kind of sleep since last summer before Charlie was born.
