The Most Gorgeous Tile Ever

Hello dear readers. Sometimes the internet is like tumbling down the rabbit hole. I'm looking for one thing and it leads to another and another until I end up on a tile and woodwork site at 1am, lost to anyone in my household who may need my assistance. Last night I found Tabarka Studio and fell in love with their astonishing collections of tile and wood flooring. It's pretty dreamy... and pretty pricey, I imagine. But what the hell... a girl can dream, right?

Check out Tabarka Studio on Instagram and see these tile installations in action!
Or follow them on Pinterest as well!

Styling Selena's Painted Porch

Last year for Houzz.com, I featured a Dallas bungalow belonging to Selena and Alun Urquhart. One of my favorite things Selena had done to her back patio was to paint a blue and white Moroccan style stencil directly onto her wood deck. It looked like an area rug. I liked it so much that I returned to her home a few months later for a commissioned magazine cover shoot. This was my first crack at styling and photographing for a magazine cover. Here are the results!

bo·hemi·an·ism

It's time to listen to that gypsy whisper, that strident internal voice that says "fuck it all".

Chevron Tile

I realize that the chevron pattern is old hat in the design world, but I love it.  I love love love love love it.  My favorite use of this famous, age-old zigzag pattern is when laid down as tile.  If I had the dough, I'd use it in my bathroom on the floor and shower.  It would also be beautiful as a wrap-around back splash in my kitchen or as flooring for our covered back patio. Where would you use it?

Just Peachy

The weather has been beautiful here in Dallas - sunny, fresh and cool.  It makes me dream a bit about spring.  Ground Hog's Day is this Thursday and I'm wondering if spring will arrive early and give me permission to infuse some peachy spring color into my life.  I love these sunny, fresh and cool images below.

Ornate Wall Coverings

This week, I'm posting all about ornate patterns, graphic prints, and ethnic textiles.  Lately I've been on a big pattern kick and I can't wait to share some of the textiles I brought home from my recent trip to Mexico.  But first, feast your eyes on these gorgeous wall coverings.  As you can see, I'm a huge fan of the Arts and Crafts movement, chinoiserie and botanical prints.

The Kind of Mood I'm In

I'm in a cozy, reflective mood this morning.  I want to wear something flowy.  Something vintage.  I want to write in my journal and sip coffee surrounded by floral wall paper and worn surroundings.  Who's with me?
