A New Adventure

I'm off again on a trip to New England, a place I have never been. I love saying that. "I'm going somewhere I have never been". I wonder what new wonderment I'll find in the north east? I'll tell you all about it when I return. I'll see you back here in mid-August. Until then, cheers.

Light Up

Yeah... so, I'm not a designer. But when I'm working with designers, lighting is the first and foremost design element that they want to discuss. I have pretty good lighting in my home - lots of pretty natural light and some lovely lamps to shine on the little dark corners. However, I know that the lighting could be more effective and I've been thinking about how to better illuminate my space. Here are some options that really appeal to me.

Work It

As per our room switch, here are a few work space ideas that I love. The red light and the old sewing table in the photo below are so sweet. I also love the type writer stashed below the desk for quick access.

Row of ribbon spools below some
free hanging shelves? Yes please.

Extension lamp? Very cool.

Big art, tufted seat - whats not to love?

...and I love the small white containers mounted to the side wall.

Going Gray

Alright. I don't know whether its the week I just spent in Seattle or what, but I'm thinking of going gray. My husband and I are in the process of switching our bedroom and office - the perfect opportunity to consider a new color for our bedroom. I'm envisioning a cloudy gray room with little bursts of blue sky and a ray of sun finding its way through the misty cover now and again. What do ya'll think?

Will Esther Williams please step forward?

Hello my sweet summer-time bohemians. I usually don't post about fashion, but I'm on a kick and need to share. As you know, I live in one of America's hot (as in temperature) spots. The Dallas heat is downright cruel. So I've spent the majority of my summer, unintentionally, in an old ill-fitting swim suit. But today I say, "No more!" This is how I want to feel in a swim suit:

...and this is what I want to look like in a swim suit.

...and this is what I want to do in a swim suit.

So to achieve this, I have purchased this:

My Inner Cartographer

These two prints (does anyone know the artists?) have me thinking about creating a similar style map of my home town. The top one is an actual map of the Paris underground subway system. Isn't it lovely?

Rest Pertubed Spirit

I've been traveling this past week sleeping in all sorts of hotel beds, cots and family nooks. My sleep has been both great and not so great depending on the bed. A good bed is the most important thing. Choose wisely.

More Art Nouveau?

As you know, I'm an Art Nouveau freak. Please indulge me and check out these beautiful motifs. These are mostly from Barcelona and were designed in the early 1900's.

Okay Sarah, we get it - you like old fashioned floral stuff. But how does translate to life in 2009? See below:
