Choice Hotels Commission

In August, I landed a surprise corporate commission for 25 paintings. Choice Hotels is rolling out a cool rewards program for members of Cambria Hotel & Suites, which involves collectable coasters and free drinks. I was asked to paint a site-specific landmark or a landscape for each of the cities that hosts a Cambria Hotel & Suites.

I had a lot of fun on this project. I also felt the crunch of a fast turn-around - 25 pieces in 6 weeks. But I have to say, I learned a lot about myself as an artist and as an illustrator. Working on this commission got me thinking about my "style" and the manner in which I process visual information. I'm inspired to get back to my own subject matter and experiment a bit. So here are my first 25 pieces for Choice Hotels.

What a treat to see these and what an interesting project. I appreciate your style very much and am especially fond of the Red Rocks and Poudre River having grown-up in Colorado. You captured the essence and feeling perfectly. But if I had to pick a fav it's Chelsea NYC because that's where I would most like to visit. They are all fabulous and you should be very proud.

Congratulations on being selected for this project, for completing it by the deadline, and for such fine renditions!

I would think selecting the images to feature might have been just about as challenging as painting them! My personal favorites? The star, the 2 capitol buildings, Lake Erie, Red Rocks. (I guess I went with those that weren't so "seasonal" in nature.....)

Wondering what NEW projects are on your table???

Get out of town! These are amazing! I'm also especially fond of the Colorado ones, because this is where I have lived for 15 years. Good job Sarah! And, are these available for sale to the general public?
