While down at city park on Saturday, I took a spin through the Studios on the Park, a nonprofit arts organization that opened in 2007 and provides studio space to artists. There, I happened upon the studio's founder Anne Laddon. Anne says the building was a 1930's Hudson Packard Showroom until the 1950's when it was turned into an auto parts business.
Anne's artwork is inspiring and her smile infectious. She's been making art for over 30 years and moved to the Central Coast in the 80's. When I look at her work, I feel I am home. Vineyards, adobe, women talking, little homes with victorian details, hay balers, dry river beds, grain silos, cafe curtains - all are silhouettes of home for me.
