Traditional Twist

After reading the premier issue of Trad Home last week, I started seeing tradition styles in a new light. I've got lots of traditional furniture speckled throughout my house.  Some of my pieces were hand-me-downs and some were picked up from Craig's List in a flurry to furnish our first apartment.  Even though they aren't my favorite pieces in my home, they serve as the base for all of my other decorating whims.  Here are some rooms with traditional foundations that update their look with modern art, accessories, textures and patterns.

Such beautiful images - thank you! Very sophisticated, I think the pendulum is swinging back around this way.

I want them all but that silver wallpaper with the dark brown velvet sofa is definitely mine !
but the gold velvets sofa is pretty wonderful too ... well, all of them are.
This is no place for a person with issues with making up her mind :)

I loved the first issue. Definitely makes me feel like traditional doesn't have to be all stuffy anymore!

I think its very important to note that often the "traditional anchor" of an interior is the architecture! The second and third photos attest to that. You might enjoy my post on something similar today!
