Pretty Underthings

I'm an actor, which means I've spent a lot of time in corsets, girdles and all sorts of odd underthings from the past.  Yes - they're uncomfortable.  Yes - they serve and promote an unattainable beauty myth.  But you know what?  I love them.  Below are some beautiful vintage pieces for sale on Etsy. You might want to give it a whirl.

Dear Golden vintage clothing is a great place to find pretty underthings of yore.
Here are just a few pieces from their collection.

If you like the look, but would rather not wear old corsets and underpinnings,
you can make it into a creative wall hanging:

OMG, that bedroom is such a riot and pretty at the same time!! LOVE IT!

Btw, I didn't know you're an actor. What kind of genre do you play/act?

The waist on the lady in the first image almost made me faint from lack of air, my goodness that's tiny!
All very pretty and feminine though, breathlessness aside.

It wasn't just lack of air that made those ladies faint. I had to wear a corset on a photo shoot and when we broke for lunch, I just ate my food. In no time that food went straight through me. I was unable to digest it. So I'm thinking those women were malnourished as well as oxygen starved.

Hi Anon - I agree... the corset acted like a modern day stomach staple surgery or lap band. I guess the malnourishment created that lovely pale skin they so desired as well.
