What I did last weekend.

Our family room is a converted garage.  Its got crappy carpet and a lot of space, which makes it perfect for my son's play area and watching Major League Baseball.  Since this room houses an extensive set of Tonka trucks and our home's only TV, we spend a fair amount of time in here.  Last weekend, I finally bit the bullet and did something to elevate the look and feel of this much loved, but much neglected space.  With the help of my sweet mother, I painted and rearranged.  The color I chose is Rainwater from the Martha Stewart collection.  My favorite thing about this paint, besides its lovely color is that it doesn't smell.  I've spent a week with the new room and overall, I really love it.  I'm doing a test run with the space today:  I have 13 toddlers storming the house for my son's third birthday.  Hopefully the room holds up under the unsteady rush of kiddos.  Here are some before and after shots:

My splurge for the room was this groovy elephant lamp on sale from Cost Plus World Market.

I really love that paint color! I use a lot of Martha's paints too. I see a drum set back there, my husband is a drummer too!

Wow - can't wait to be there and play! Switching the basket holding piece to behind the sofa is brilliant! Love the color and the rug addition. Congrats to you and your Mom for projects completed!
