Proud Mary

I'm not a Catholic, or religious at all for that matter, but this famous mama has been speaking to me since Charlie's birth.  To me, Mary is the original, "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster. I'm inspired by her commitment to her family and her faith that in the end, all will be well.  So, dear readers, here's my little bit of Goddess worship for the day.  Isn't she lovely?

thanks.

I have several chalk pieces like that: two infants of prague, one jesus and one st. terese. love old devotional pieces for their history and beauty.

I love this. You are so right--she really is the original "keep calm and carry on" poster. I'm not Catholic either, but I'm certainly spiritual, and something about Mary is just incredibly soothing and peaceful.

I grew up catholic but am not a religious adult. A hand carved scultpture of Mary has sat on the kitchen window of my childhood home until my dad sold our home. She now sits on my kitchen window and I have had many a conversation with her and she reminded me of the good things in life as I cared for my dad during his fight with cancer. She is comforting in many ways and I believe you don't need to believe to share her spirit.
