Over the past year, I have picked up quite a few old wood pieces (a cigar table, a chair, a frame, etc.) that I bought with the expressed intent of painting. However, once I got them home, I was reluctant to cover up the original wood. I love love love the look of wood - especially when used as structural elements in a home, ie. beams and floors. Here are some photos that have been inspiring me lately to keep it natural.
I'm right there with Jules. Once you've stripped several layers of paint (that I'm sure were oh so chic in their day) off of a dresser that has fabulous wood grain and veneers underneath, you become very hesitant to cover any natural wood. Every time I see a "before and after" where something was painted turquoise (though I love the color), all I can think about is how much time it will take to take the paint off when you are tired of the color.

i love natural wood!!!
cool images, and i'm with you. i have a lot of natural timber, and really think twice before painting it, probably because i stripped it back myself.
Love it...and loved chatting with you yesterday. Once again...I LOVE your site! Keep up the great work. xox J
