Kitsch Heaven - The Madonna Inn

I'm from California's Central Coast and grew up with the Madonna Inn in my back yard. The Madonna Inn was built in 1958 in San Luis Obispo, CA. The inn boasts 110 uniquely themed rooms filled with fabulous, gauche, over-the-top decor. This wonderfully weird and kitschy Swiss chalet styled hotel makes me seriously happy. It speaks to my inner drag queen and reminds me to be bold, be gaudy and go pink. Here's a little design inspiration from the tackiest wonderland you'll ever see. So ugly, so beautiful. I love you, Madonna Inn.

If you can't stay overnight, go to the restaurant and enjoy a meal in their pink dining hall. And if you don't have time for a meal, at least check out the bakery and enjoy a piece of the inn's signature pink champagne cake. Its freakin' awesome.

Oh man! What a flashback. I actually spent my wedding night in one of those seriously gaudy rooms. You can't find that kind of decor just anywhere! Love your blog!
