I have a ranch house. It's a lovely space, but the bedrooms have no distinguishing features. Each room is composed of four sturdy walls covered in drywall, standard nine foot ceilings and one modestly sized window. I am grateful for our home and all it has given to me and my family. Still, I sometimes dream of architectural character: beams, and vaulted ceilings, brickwork, clerestory windows, archways and built-ins. Here is a collection of bedrooms made unique by their unique architecture - some grand and palatial, some more modest.
