My home was built in 1971. There is nothing special about my walls. Their construction and their history is pretty mundane. But the walls in the photos below have a story to tell that begins well before the Nixon administration. If these walls could talk, I wonder what they'd say.

So fun to think about. I'm sure those walls have witnessed some pretty interesting things!
These pictures are incredible. I love them. I am in a pretty new construction, I'm sure these walls would ask me to dust more. xo
You find the best rooms!
My walls are too new to talk too!
love these rooms.
i bet your walls have some things to say....
i bet they could talk about new year's eve 1975....
;)
Oooh - Anita, I bet you're right. See? A lot can happen in 30 years.
Beautiful! I read a memoir about a couple who bought an old home in the Italian countryside, and when they started scrubbing the 18" thick walls to repaint them, they uncovered a renaissance era fresco. Can you imagine?? *dreamy sigh*
Wonderful rooms, so full of history and character. I must have that plum settee in the first photo!
I still haven't decided if I could actually live with "rough luxe" walls. They look cool, but I think after a while, I'd want to finish scraping them and start again. Am I the only one?

Au contraire! What's special about your walls is the people whose lives they surround.
But yes, I take your point. I've often wished that my home's 200- year-old walls could talk, or -- even better -- that I could time-travel just for a few minutes to see and hear what went on in these old rooms. Then again, perhaps it's best left to one's imagination!
