I love well planned kid's rooms! Sometimes I wish we were as permissive and adventurous with our own rooms as we are with the rooms of our children.

Elegance
I'm feeling a little like this today:
My big question is, Can someone (that would be me) who looks like the photo above (aka batshit crazy), create something that looks like the photos below? I feel a little off-kilter / insane with pregnancy and an approaching due date, but I still want to live in a state of elegance and serenity. I think I'm asking a bit much, eh?

Armoires, Dressers and the like...
About two years ago, my husband insisted on picking up a dresser for his socks and tees and "non-closet" items. We found a not-too hideous one on Craig's List for 60 bucks. I'm tolerant of the dresser drawers, but long for something a little more awesome. Here are some beautiful pieces, worthy of holding more than just my husband's underthings - pieces that fit both the "practical" and "beautiful" quotient.

Celebrate
Tonight, a few of the women from my tribe are getting together to host a little blessing for me and this new baby I'm about to produce. I love the idea of a blessingway - not a shower, because I already have all the stuff I need from baby number one - but an evening to honor the fact that our family is welcoming another very special soul into the world. I'm excited to see everyone and enjoy the company of my ladies! And speaking of special rites of summer, aren't these impromptu celebratory outdoor spaces tops? I love the tented canopy in the first photo!
And on a separate note, this was the scene in my front yard this morning!
Our very own "Make Way for Ducklings". I think all this new life is good mojo.

Sprucing up my bedroom
I have a serious addiction to bedding. Every 6-9 months or so, I find some new coverlet or bedspread to try out in my bedroom. I am constantly changing the look of the bed and more importantly, the weight of the covers to match the weather. I'm currently crushing on this Sparrow Duvet from Pottery Barn. I think it would be beautiful with my yellow IKEA bed.
...and so you can have the whole picture, here is a photo of my bed this morning. The quilt was a mother's day gift from my husband from the Liberty line at Target. You'll notice the left over ceiling fan - I took off the blades, which were in the way of the canopy. The fan wasn't working anyway. I want to replace it with a chandelier type light that could swag to the center of the bed.
And wouldn't it be lovely with this little chandelier? Or is this getting too twee - the bird print, the nest-like branch light, etc? Please, dear readers, tell me if my pregnancy hormones are causing me to make silly design choices.

Just for fun, here are some other
interiors that showcase the same bed

Be Present
I'm trying so hard to to this. Be present. I'm in my last four weeks of this pregnancy and its getting harder and harder to look around the house and realize that I'm not going to get to this or that project. The entry won't be done before baby comes. The kitchen won't get painted or papered until at least the end of summer. The list is long. So for now, I need to look at my home with the eyes of love. It is a wonderful home that houses our souls, protects our dreams and shelters my growing family. So, for that, I give thanks.
