Gray Chevron Pouf by AletaFae

Just a quick note:

A few weeks back I won a pouf from a giveaway hosted by Nelya at Head Over Heels.  She was showcasing the awesome pouf magic of AletaFae via Etsy.  I instantly fell in love.  And I won!  My beloved pouf just arrived on my doorstep and I had to share.  Please go check out AletaFae's gorgeous poufs.  I love mine (see below) and will probably start collecting them all.  Thank you Nelya! Thank you AletaFae!

Sarah Saw Something

Time for another installment of Sarah Saw Something, where I share in house announcements and little bits and bobs that I found interesting in the blogosphere this week. Enjoy!

Check out these awesome prints from High Street Vintage that I just discovered via Alena from Oh, Its Just Perfect.

And just a heads up - next week, I'll be gone while Charlie Bear is undergoing craniofacial surgery.  So instead of leaving a big 'ol blank week of nothing, I've invited some of my favorite blogger-sister-friends to guest post and help a Mama out.  My question to them?  "How would your back yard look and feel if money were no object?"  Check back in and watch these amazing women dream BIG!

Diving In

Today, I'm diving in to the deep end.  My husband and I are taking our son, Charlie, in to the hospital to meet with neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, hematologists, craniofacial surgeon assistants, nurses, and some anthropologists who'll take pictures and measurements of Charlie's head.  All of these pre-op appointments are to prepare him (and mostly us) for surgery on Monday.  Wish me luck... I may be under water for a few days, but I'll be back at the surface soon.  Thanks to everyone for your incredible support during this weird and sometimes terrifying time.  How did our mothers do it?

To stay updated during Charlie's surgery, please visit Help Charlie Heal
This blog helps to keep Charlie's community and family up to date and I'll
be posting there about his surgery and recovery.  Again, thank you all.

Be sure to wear a flower in your hair

My son, Walker, and I were on a walk in Seattle last week when we spotted a bank of white daisies and a bushel of lavender.  I was feeling particularly free and happy, so I picked a daisy and slipped it behind my ear.  Walker liked the look, so he requested a lavender sprig for his hair.  Walking along the residential streets in Capitol Hill, we felt like flower children for a moment.  It was wonderful.

Mamma Mia from Live.Like.You.

Jill from Live.Like.You. just announced her new collection, Mamma Mia, all inspired by the film.  She's created and curated an amazing collection of home interior items that groove on the Caribbean Boho vibe as seen in the film.  I love the hot color pops against the washed cool backgrounds.  And really, Meryl Streep makes everything look good!

Here are some of my favorite things from the new collection:

...and now add green

I've been on the road for the past two days, driving from my Mama's farm in Oregon to my place in Dallas.  Today, I'm writing from a roadside motel in Russell, Kansas and I thought I'd add on to yesterday's post about my favorite color.  Once I add a bit of blue to a room, I like to introduce a pop of green.  How about you?  What's your favorite color combo?  (My other one is mustard yellow and gray.)

Hands Down My Favorite Color

I just can't get away from it.  I use it everywhere.
Do you have a color that follows you everywhere you go?

Sarah Saw Something - Farm Edition

I'm back at my Mama's Oregon farm for one night before my husband and I drive cross country and home to Dallas with our son Charlie.  As many of you know, Charlie has craniofacial surgery on August 1st.  My husband and I will be in the hospital with Charlie for a few days and then home for his recovery period.  We are leaving my three year old, Walker, with his grandmother during Charlie's surgery for obvious reasons.  This will be the first time that Walker has been away from both of us for longer than one night.  Gulp.  I'm making no bones about it... this shit is hard.  So, we've really enjoyed this last day together on my Mama's farm - playing, lounging, snacking and loving on each other.

Journaling on the front porch.

Walker peeling his first ever orange!

Playing Gin with my husband.

My Mom and her sweet husband take Walker for a spin on the 4-wheeler.

My mom and Walker enjoy an apple in the rocking chair.

That Mirror!

I love the two mirrors below and am constantly on the hunt for something similar for my foyer.  There is nothing better than a big inviting mirror as a first impression when you walk into a home.  It reflect the beauty of the home and the beauty of the people who reside there.

Rub-a-Dub-Dub

I have a tiny, shallow tub in my master bath that is barely big enough for a sitz bath.  Its more of a soak your ass and feet kind of tub.  Its certainly not a full emersion experience.  There is an oversized claw foot tub in my future.  Not my immediate future, but someday.  Ah, someday!
